In 1974, Elizabeth “Connie” Converse packed up her car, drove away and was never heard from again, leaving behind a haunting collection of recorded music that would remain virtually unheard for nearly 30 years. Her songs, written and recorded in the 1950’s, paint a striking portrait of a gifted, independent, and troubled woman whose work was truly ahead of her time. Now, after more than 50 years at the bottom of a filing cabinet, Connie’s tapes have been restored, re-mastered, and made available for the first time.
This tribute concert features GL, Marissa Nadler, Scott Matthew and David Garland (he did a great edition of Spinning On Air on WNYC about her) plus Lady Lucille as house band – should be a real treat…
